Merle's expressions are wonderfully done. Grammar correction: "We only can accept those things, and do our best to live with them" is sort of correct. Grammatically the wording is fine, but it is awkward. "We can only accept those things and do our best to live with them." Professional authors often place a comma just before an 'and' in a sentence, but there actually isn't supposed to be one. The only exception (that I know of) is American English grammar. Everywhere else (again, so far as I know) that has English as their first language uses British grammar rules.
So... the three of them are in the same room while Merle says this? Does Millerna even know that Merle had a sort of crush on Van and is having some trouble with Hitomi being back and involved with Van?
There should either be a comma or a semicolon between "battles" and "our." I'm not sure which punctuation you want, though you do want one of them. I honestly don't think it matters which one. "Helping" should also be "help."
I'm not sure if I fully understand your first sentence. Three? who? Millerna, Marlene and Merle (woah the three "M" )? About Millerna knowing about Merle's secret...we'll go back to that detail later! Maybe Merle explained everything to Millerna when she began crying, or maybe Millerna has been Merle's friend and confident during these years, or maybe Millerna "sees" that Merle has a crush on him...
About the comma, I'll fix it in a minute! argh and I really read and re-read the text this time T_T
Whoops, I forgot about Marlene. My confusion is where is Hitomi during the Millerna-Merle conversation? After Hitomi and Van were interrupted, Merle meets with Millerna and Marlene... So where does Hitomi fit into that?
in the forest, with Van. The conversation between Merle and Millerna happens after Van and Hitomi fly away and leave Merle at the market (page 84-85), that's why Merle storms into the castle angrily (page 115)
